TGS and deepC Store will collaborate on assessment for carbon storage in Australia’s Browse Basin

TGS and deepC Store will collaborate on assessment for carbon storage in Australia’s Browse Basin

TGS and deepC Store have agreed to conduct subsurface well location planning, storage resource verification, as well as evaluation for carbon storage within the G-14-AP permit area. This area is located in Australia, specifically in the Browse Basin.

It has already been planned that the assessment will occur throughout 2025 on the permit, as this permit is co-owned by deepC Store, as well as Azuli (Australia) Ltd.

It is clear that the integration of TGS’ advanced subsurface data, along with deepC Store’s expertise in CCS project development, will quickly become an essential part of the process, when it comes to assessing both the feasibility and long-term security of carbon storage within the Browse Basin.

TGS stated that, ‘the collaboration marks a notable step in accelerating CCS initiatives in the Asia Pacific region, reinforcing Australia’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable energy solutions.’

TGS EVP New Energy Solutions, Will Ashby, spoke about the contract award, "We are delighted to see our collaboration with deepC Store evolve into actionable projects and services, following the recent award of Carbon Storage acreage in Australia. We are eager to contribute TGS’ world-class expertise and advanced site characterization services to this significant initiative. This project underscores Australia’s vast potential while reaffirming TGS’ commitment to supporting global climate goals and enabling CCS developers to make tangible progress."

deepC Store’s Managing Director, Daein Cha, added, “We are very pleased to work with TGS for progressing one of its key technical activities for G-14-AP. This relationship is an essential component of our world class CO2 storage development. This work demonstrates our ongoing commitment to establish CStore1 as the first offshore floating CCS hub project in the Asia Pacific region, and to advance Australia’s strategic position in the CCS business.”
