Hong Kong’s first carbon capture system has been created by CS Tech

Self-development equipment created by CS Tech has the potential to transform industrial CO2 emissions and waste into valuable resources. This is made possible through integrating it with proprietary pressure swing absorption (PSA) technology from the UK.

It has been shown that the reduced carbon emissions during the production of low-carbon intensity construction materials through CCUS technology can be accurately calculated. Currently, CS Tech is closely working with the Hong Kong Trading Centre (HKCTC) and the purpose of this is to actively engage in the development of methodologies for carbon credit certification. Further to this, the use of construction materials which have a low-carbon intensity, make it possible to add value through carbon credits.

Recently CS Tech hosted the Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) in Hong Kong. The purpose of this was to drive local research and development in carbon reduction, as well as to showcase their CCUS system. Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, Dr. Amy Khor, along with representatives of Singapore's sustainability experts, visited CS Tech's Research & Development Centre in Tuen Mun. The overall aim of this visit was to, ‘explore future trends in carbon management and work together towards achieving net-zero emissions.’

CS Tech stated that, ‘the system is very energy efficient and its compact size makes it ideal for implementation in the Asia region.’ Furthermore, it was confirmed that the captured CO2 is sourced from a dedicated biochar production facility where CS Tech converts wooden pallets into biochar. A final benefit of this process, is that the CO2 emissions which are produced during biochar production are captured and then incorporated into concrete blocks through the use of CS Tech's proprietary injection system.
