A collaboration over integrated CCS solutions has begun between Svante and Tenaska

A collaboration over integrated CCS solutions has begun between Svante and Tenaska

It has been agreed that Svante and Tenaska will work together on this project, with the intention of advancing the decarbonisation of a multitude of industrial sectors. This includes sectors such a pulp & paper, cement, oil & gas and finally, cement.

The companies have arranged a non-exclusive MoU and through this agreement, they will combine their skills, knowledge, technology and services. Overall, their intentions for this project are to provide select customers with end-to-end CCS value chain solutions.

Both companies will bring their own skills to the project and in Svante’s case, this will be solid sorbent-based carbon capture technology. This technology will enable efficient and environmentally responsible carbon dioxide capture. On the other hand, Tenaska will be responsible for providing both regional planning and infrastructure, when it comes to CO2 transportation and storage.

Overall, the main aims of this collaboration will be to achieve integrated carbon management solutions, improve and promote North America-wide outreach and customer engagement. The final aim is to encourage innovative project development.

In order to align with these aims, when it comes to integrated carbon management solutions, Svante will capture carbon dioxide emissions at industrial facilities and this will include capturing emissions from CO2 compressions, conditioning and liquefaction. Whereas, Tenaska will focus on managing CO2 transportation, as well as sequestration, ultimately making sure that safe, secure and permanent storage occurs deep underground. Further to this, the companies will look to offer tailored solutions to diverse needs in order to promote customer engagement and finally, the partnership will focus on identifying and assessing commercially viable opportunities for CCS. This will involve leveraging the combined technical and operational expertise of both organisations.

Recently, Tenaska has been focused on advancing a platform of mid- and early stage projects which are based throughout strategic locations throughout the United States. So far, the company has managed to file Class VI permit applications for almost twenty injection wells across multiple states. Through working together, Tenaska and Svante hope to simplify the path to decarbonisation for industrial emitters all around the world.

Chief Revenue Officer of Svante, Matt Stevenson, commented, “This collaboration is well aligned with Svante’s mission to make carbon capture accessible for industries worldwide. By combining our technology with Tenaska’s extensive experience in CO2 transportation and storage, we can offer end-to-end solutions that accelerate the transition to a net-zero future.”

Vice President, Tenaska Development, Bret Estep, added, “Recognizing the synergies with our CCS development platform, Tenaska is proud to work with Svante to advance innovative solutions for carbon management. Together, we aim to provide industrial customers with the tools and confidence to achieve their decarbonization goals.”
