Hamburg Hydrogen Industrial Grid - 'HH-WIN'
The Hamburg Hydrogen Industrial Grid 'HH-WIN' opens up a key decarbonization option for Hamburg's energy-intensive industry and creates the prospect of independence from natural gas imports. Construction will begin in 2024. By 2027 at the latest, the grid is to supply the first hydrogen consumers in large-scale industry with energy from the large-scale electrolyzer 'Green Hydrogen Hub' being built at the Moorburg site. In the years after 2030, HH-WIN is expected to be able to supply so many Hamburg industrial companies with green hydrogen that it will be possible to replace one third of Hamburg's natural gas consumption with climate-neutral hydrogen. CO2 emissions can thus be reduced by around 1.4 million tons per year. Detailed planning for the connection of around a dozen hydrogen projects is currently underway at Gasnetz Hamburg. Further planning is designed so that other interested companies can also be connected to HH-WIN.
